Safety Tips
Don't walk
alone after dark in dubious areas.
Don't wear
jewellery or flaunt expensive cameras while sightseeing.
Be on the
alert for petty thieves, pickpockets and con-men in
busy places and at banks (ATM's)
Drive with
car windows closed and doors locked. You are most vulnerable at traffic lights
and in driveways.
If
confronted by an armed assailant, don't try to be a hero.
Always
consult your guide/host/ hotel keeper before exploring.
Never leave
luggage unattended in front of the hotel or lobby.
Deposit your
valuables in the hotel's safety deposit box.
Do not
flaunt big amounts of cash. Only take with you what you will need for the day,
and have most of your money in travellers' cheques in a safe place. Remember
to keep the numbers of your cheques in a safe place.
Park in
well-lit areas and do not pick up strangers.
Ladies don't
hang purses or handbags on the backs of chairs in restaurants.
Do not slow
down or stop for people who wave you down on the road because of car problems,
but drive to the nearest garage and report the problem.
Do not trust
strangers who approach you for money or wish you to
open the window of your car.
