Roads
and conditions:
Driving
in Senegal is on the right hand side of the road.
Roads tend to be narrow and driving conditions can be dangerous with
animal and pedestrians crossing the road without warning.
Some roads in the interior may become impassable during the rainy season
and it is not advisable to drive at night.
Sea:
The ship Le Joola operates on a weekly basis from Dakar to Ziguinchor. It
is often quicker to travel by sea than road.
Sea Shuttles depart regularly from Dakar harbour to Ile of
Gorιe.
Rail:
Trains run from Dakar to towns en route to Bamako in
Mali.
There is also a service between Dakar and St Louis.
The PTB or petit train bleu runs from Monday to Saturday between Dakar and
the suburbs of Pikine, Thiaroye et Rufisque.

Taxis
Are available in most towns and fares are metered with a surcharge of CFA
francs 100 and fairs increase after midnight. A trip from the airport to
town will cost about 3000 CFA francs during the day and about 4700 CFA
